DIY Turbans

So I had a couple of ladies ask me on Instagram how to make the turban I had on Berkley yesterday so I decided it would be easier to post instructions on here instead of on Instagram! Hopefully these are easy enough instructions if you have questions though don't hesitate to ask!

Step 1: Choose material
Step 2: Measure your child's head (or yours if you are making it for you!) You will double the length of your child's head to make sure you have room for the double knot to be tied on top. (to be safe once you have cut it like the picture below tie it onto your child's head & adjust it by trimming off some of the edge so it isn't too long of ties)
Step 3: Lay material in half so right side out pieces are touching (like the picture below).

Step 4: Depending on how wide you want it cut material like picture above with the slanted egdges (facing the same way) I wanted the one i made for Berkley to be about 1 1/2 -2 inches wide so i folded my material in half to be a little bigger than the desired thickness (a little bigger cuz you gotta save a little room for the seam) Once it is cut then iron around the edges to help make sewing it a little easier
Step 5: Now you will begin to sew it together from about 1 inch from the middle all the way to the end (like the picture above, back stitching at both sides. After you will do the same thing on the other end from about an inch from the beginning of the last once. (leaving about an inch or just a little less in the very middle so you can turn it right side out & before you close it) Make sure you trim the tip off of both edges like i did so you don't have too much extra material in the tip & so you get a more pointy tip!
Step 6: After you are done sewing it you will turn it right side out so the design is no longer inside out. (like pictured above)
 Step 7: Iron it flat
Step 8: Once it is ironed flat go back & hand stitch or machine stitch the center where you left an opening to turn it right side out closed & you are done!!
Step 9: Tie it in a double knot on your sweet baby or yourself & ta da!! You made a turban!! :)

p.s. I am horrible at making step by step instructions!!!!!

Yes, I am still alive

I can't believe its been 9 months since I posted on here, but my sisters talked me into keeping it updated so here it goes!!
Updates:
-We moved to Hurricane about a week ago & have been unpacking for what seems like an eternity... still no light at the end of the tunnel but hopefully soon. We are living in my in-laws home here & they are living back in Tuba City.
-Berkley is 9 months old & crawling everywhere getting into everything, but I love it!!! She no longer has to go to her GI Specialist in Provo & she is gaining weight slowly but anything is better than losing weight. She is in the 2% for her weight, 3% for her height & 85% for her head (she is gonna be a smartie :) haha) We still struggle with feedings (just behavioral problems) & is almost sleeping 100% through the night!
-Adam has transferred to SUU & will start their Integrated Engineering program (at the 2nd half of the sophomore year) in the fall. Hopefully soon he will hear back from the jobs he has applied for & that he will get one of them that he really wants! (ATV tour guide)

I will post some pictures of the house we are in & of Berkley in my next post!!

23 Weeks

--How Far Along: 23 weeks & 5 days
---Size of Baby: Weighs about 12.7 to 20.8 ounces & measures about 10.5 to 11.8 inches from head to toe. This week she's forming little nipples (haha yeah, really!) Her face is fully formed now -- she just needs a little extra fat to fill it out. She's listening to your voice and your heartbeat -- and even to loud sounds like cars honking and dogs barking.

---Total Weight Gain:  2 pounds.

---Maternity Clothes: No new outfits yet, hopefully soon. Loving Adam's shirts more than anything because some of mine (more than just one or two) are a little small!!
---Gender: GIRL!
---Movement: YES!! She loves kicking Daddy's hand when he puts it on my belly. She has gotten the hiccups ever so often & its a pretty funny feeling! :)
---What I Miss: Sleeping on my tummy & being able to sleep all night long without emptying my bladder.
---Sleep: usually pretty good until my bladder wakes me up at 7am
---Cravings: Salty things & sugary things
---Aversions: same as always but tums seem to make me feel less sick!
---Symptoms: Frequent trips to the potty still, some back pain & horrible pelvic pain after sittting, sleeping or laying down.
----Best Moment: She put her arm up close to my ribs & pushed out so i could see her arm pushing out of my tummy. It was super crazy to see & feel it. Once Daddy got around to see it though she got shy & pulled her arm down to hide it! & Adam's reaction to her kicking his hand & him seeing my stomach move like crazy!

23 weeks & 5 days pregnant!

Diaper Bag

So finding a diaper bag is harder than you think!  After all, you need a bag that is cute enough to carry everywhere you go but one that is functional enough to actually use.  I looked at Target, Walmart, K-mart, JCPenney, and other stores in the mall but couldn't find one that I thought was cute.  After all, it's pretty much gonna be your purse as well so it better be cute!!
Here is my criteria for a diaper bag:
- Stylish (so I'll want to carry it around everywhere)
- Doesn't cost an arm and a leg (like most adorable Petunia Pickle Bottom bags do)
- Lots of organizational pockets and space
- Includes a changing pad
- Comfortable to wear/carry everywhere

Unfortunately I don't really have the money to get the Petunia Pickle Bottom bag I wanted. I did a lot of research a found that I really like JJ Cole's diaper bags. This is the diaper bag I want to get.  I love that it has a padded strap, lots of organizational pockets, and a matching changing pad.  This bag is $60, much better than the $130-$760 for Petunia Pickle Bottom bags!!

22 weeks

--How Far Along: 22 weeks &2 days

---Size of Baby: Weighs about 1.2 lbs now & measures about 10.5-11.8 inches from head to toe. This week she's got more developed eyes and lips, she's looking even more like a newborn. She's sleeping in cycles-- about 12 to 14 hours per day.

---Total Weight Gain: Still at -1 pounds.

---Maternity Clothes: No new outfits yet, hopefully soon.
---Gender: GIRL!
---Movement: YES!! Whenever i sit for long periods of time she goes absolutely crazy!!
---What I Miss: Pizza (this will probably be my answer every time!) & sleeping on my stomach all night long.
---Sleep: usually pretty good
---Cravings: Salty things (chips, nuts, etc) & cereal
---Aversions: same as always
---Symptoms: Frequent trips to the potty still, some back pain & horrible pelvic pain.
----Best Moment: Same as last time... feeling her start to really kick. But the very best moment was when Adam felt her kick about 5-6 times in less than a minute!! &watching my stomach twitch when she kicks. I can usually talk to her & get her to kick when i want, its kinda funny!
22 weeks & 2 days pregnant!

21 Weeks

--How Far Along: 21weeks

---Size of Baby: Weighs about 1pound now & measures about 10 1/2  inches from head to toe. This week she gulps down several ounces of amniotic fluid every day, both for hydration and nutrition and to practice swallowing and digesting. And, these days, those taste buds actually work! Studies show that after birth, babies are most interested in tastes they've already experienced through amniotic fluid. Meaning, think about what you want your future child to eat as you prepare your own lunch. As her digestive system preps for the outside world, she's manufacturing meconium -- the tarry black substance you'll find in her first dirty diaper (ew)! Since it's a girl, she's already got a lifetime's supply of eggs in her womb -- about six million of them!

---Total Weight Gain: -1 pounds. I am just barely getting to the point where i want to eat food & its not always the healthiest choice of food!
---Maternity Clothes: No new outfits yet, hopefully soon.
---Gender:  It's a GIRL!
---Movement: YES!! She is such a wiggle worm! She woke me up the other morning because she was kicking so much & so hard (granted she isn't that big & i know bigger/stronger kicks are coming in the future) Adam felt her kick even! It was a happy moment!
---What I Miss: Pizza
---Sleep: usually pretty good, until i have to get up to pee at 7:30 every morning
---Cravings: Salty things (chips, nuts, etc) & cereal
---Aversions: same as always
---Symptoms: Frequent trips to the potty still, some back pain & horrible pelvic pain.
----Best Moment: Feeling her start to really kick. But the very best moment was when Adam felt her kick about 5-6 times in less than a minute!!
